We are now well on our way into 2018, so we thought we would share with you some kitchen design trends of the year so far if you are thinking about doing some home improvements.

An “Eco” Style

We are all being a little more conscious when it comes to being environmentally friendly these days, so much so that this is even making its way as part of kitchen design trends this year. There is a massive increase in online searches when it comes to phrases such as “eco kitchens” as well as related organic material searches. It means that you might see an increase in the likes of concrete tiles, bamboo lighting and more.

A Little Tipple

Wine coolers used to be seen as a luxury accessory to a kitchen and be quite expensive to purchase. Their increasing popularity is making them much more affordable, so you can make sure your Sauvignon Blanc, or Chardonnay is well chilled. The same could be said for hot water taps. Who has time to boil the kettle these days? Hot water taps are also coming down in price and more practical to install.

A Taste of the Exotic

Kitchen design trends in online searches in 2018 show that people are going for kitchens that are inspired by being abroad. For example, there has been a huge 66% increase in the search term “Moroccan Splashbacks” and 71% in “Moroccan Tiles”. You will also be likely to find some more elaborate pendant lighting, chunky worktops and more come into play for this particular taste.

Cabinets that are Two-Toned

White is still number one in terms of the favourite shade of kitchen cabinets, but there is an increase in popularity when it comes to blue/grey kitchen units. Lots of people are opting to go for the same colour but perhaps a darker shade of blue for the worktops, and a lighter shade for the unit itself. You could also be a little bit on the daring side and have pale units but vibrant worktops for statement.
If you are looking to be on trend this year, we hope our blog on kitchen design trends has done the trick.
